Forces from the Oromia regional administration launched a heavy assault early this morning on Somali civilians in the town of Moyale, in Dawa zone of the Somali region, according to local officials.
The Oromia forces entered Jamuqa village in Moyale district, causing loss of life and property damage. Images circulating on social media show the village of Jamuqa on fire after the forces set it ablaze.
Moyale was among several towns in the Somali region that had been elevated to city administration status. The city administration office there was opened this week, which sparked a dispute in which a young girl died.
