Corrections and updates
A correction fixes a factual error. It appears at the top of the story with the date and a plain description of what was wrong.
An update adds new information as a story develops. It is also noted on the story with its time.
What we do not do
We do not silently change facts in a published story, and we do not delete stories to hide mistakes. If a story has to be removed, we explain why.
